The vision is to create a culture and atmosphere motivating all employees to develop their skills and top performance competence. We aim to retain the best and attract new talent. To be the leading company in the field, Stora Enso must perform better than the best.

The main challenge is to align and develop priorities and key areas. Five new task forces will develop the new HR-strategy basis: ability to change, compensation and remuneration, attitude and culture, competence and leadership.

Greater coherence between business operations and human resources is another target. Systematic analysis of input from customer and employee surveys, management development, new steering groups and Total Quality Management self-assessments will enhance understanding and ensure that we address the right issues.

Our evaluation tool, the Excellence 2005 programme, provides a strategic approach to business development. The challenge is to develop a true link between self-assessment results and future actions involving all parties.

We will continue to carry out and develop surveys. To provide stronger business unit support, focus will shift from internal to operational issues and from measurement to action.
