Certified product safety systems taken into use

Full compliance with third-party-verified product safety systems is one way to guarantee that packaging materials, and especially direct food packaging materials, meet all relevant demands and regulations on consumer and food safety. Product safety systems usually cover the whole manufacturing process from the procurement of raw materials and the production of food packaging material to the delivery of the end-products.

Altogether six Stora Enso mills have certifed HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) or product safety systems. Skoghall Mill was the most recent mill to be certified, in 2004. The other mills are Baienfurt Mill, Imatra Mills, Ingerois Board Mill in Anjalankoski, Lahti Mill and Ruovesi Mill. Stora Enso intends to introduce certified product safety systems by the end of 2006 at all other mills producing direct food packaging – namely Barcelona Mill, Fors Mill, and Pankakoski Mill.
