For the first time Stora Enso has defined common Group-level environmental performance targets.

Stora Enso has a strong record of setting unit-specific targets for environmental performance. In autumn 2004, Stora Enso took environmental target setting to a new level, and approved specific environmental targets for the whole Group. This move will strengthen the Group’s sustainability work, and set out a clear road map for future operations.

The new Group-level environmental performance targets were approved in November 2004 by Stora Enso’s Sustainability Committee.

These targets were set for various reasons, but most importantly to focus efforts to maintain and achieve industry-leading performance on sustainability and environmental issues. Stora Enso hopes to increase credibility with customers and other stakeholders by improving environmental performance and communicating this progress towards achieving the targets.
