Book publishers and writers keen to promote recycling have asked Stora Enso to produce book paper with a significant recovered fibre content. The challenge is that the paper used in books should typically be durable, as books are meant to last for many years. Recovered fibre tends to reduce paper’sbulk, specific volumeand brightness, which are essential properties for book papers. Within the book paper segment, demands for brightness are lowest for certain types of paperback publishing.
With this market in mind, Stora Enso has developed a special book paper grade that contains 5–20% recovered fibre, depending on the customer’s quality demands. This paper is produced at Summa Mill.
