Twelve Stora Enso mills use recovered paper as a raw material. The newsprint mill at Sachsen, the new newsprint machine at Langerbrugge and packaging board producers Barcelona, Varkaus, Wisconsin Rapids and Corenso France’s Soustre Mill all use 100% recovered paper. Six other mills, Duluth, Heinola, Hylte, Keräyskuitu, Pori and Maxau-Wolfsheck use a combination of recovered paper and fresh fibre.

In general, Stora Enso considers recovered fibre to be suitable for products with a short life cycle. Recovered fibre is channelled to uses where it creates the most value for the Group and its customers – according to the quality requirements for the paper grades concerned.
Stora Enso’s main end uses for recovered fibre are newsprint and certain types of board, but in the USA recovered fibre is also used to make magazine and fine papers.
