Environmental impacts of production units

Stora Enso’s production operations have many impacts on the environment, particularly where the Group’s 44 pulp, paper and board mills are concerned. Stora Enso has been working systematically to extend the coverage of environmental management systems in the production units. All of Stora Enso’s pulp, paper and board production capacity is already covered by third-party-verified ISO 14001 and/or EMAS environmental management systems except for the recently acquired production facilities of Intercell S.A. The Intercell units will begin to develop and implement environmental management systems according to the Group’s guidelines.
