Stora Enso Metsä is the organisation responsible for procuring wood for Stora Enso's mills in Finland. Most of the procured wood originates from Finnish forests, but 30% of the wood raw material is imported from Russia, where Stora Enso Metsä also operates.
Stora Enso Metsä's environmental operations are guided by an environmental management system. One of the most important aspects of this system is tracing the origin of wood. The traceability system covers all wood procured by Stora Enso Metsä. For instance, the route of the imported wood can be traced, from Pääjärvi in Russian Karelia, all the way to Stora Enso's Kemijärvi Mill in Finland.
